ClubDivot now accepting Beta testers!

Posted by Amber Goodenough on March 08, 2011

In case you haven’t heard us yelling from the rooftops, our new product ClubDivot is almost in Beta! We launched a sign up page for those that want to be beta testers, which means you get to try it first before everyone else and tell us how rad it is or what it needs. We are excited to get some actual humans on our site and we have a lot to get done in the next few weeks as we get ready to launch the beta.

In case you aren’t familiar with the product, basically it makes your golf schedule easier to manage. We provide ways for you to send tee time invitations to your friends and business contacts and ClubDivot has a calendar view that will sync with your iCal or Outlook. We make it easy to book online and provide ways for small clubs to keep track of and communicate with its members. Pretty awesome if you ask me.

We hope to launch in the next few weeks, so get ready to PLAY MORE GOLF!

Schedule Golf Games Online

Posted by Amber Goodenough on January 31, 2011

In case you are unfamiliar with fourfour media and what we do here, I’ll tell ya.  We build awesome apps!  Plain and simple.  We love the painstaking process of building tools that make peoples lives easier or better or funner.  (Especially funner!)  Normally we build apps for clients such as the New York Stock Exchange or Crown Worldwide Moving to name a few of our most recent apps.  These tools allow businesses to function more intelligently and create a way for them interact with their clients in a more personal way.

In case you haven’t heard of our own app called ClubDivot, let me break it down for ya.  We are building a social app for golfers that enables them to schedule, book and organize tee times with their friends and co-workers online.  We have been working on the design and overall structure for over a year, but we are SOOOO close to done we can taste it.

On ClubDivot Golfers can:

  1. Create their own private golf groups
  2. Schedule tee times for the group
  3. Book tee times online through our site
  4. Maintain an easy to use calendar to see all your upcoming games
  5. Meet new people

We have been hard at work on the app over the last few months and have made a lot of good changes and additions to the site.  Here are the latest updates on ClubDivot

    1. Sign in using your social media user account, ie: Facebook login
    2. We have finalized the new design for the web application, the mobile app is next for an overhaul
    3. We are currently in negotiations with several booking engines to get our customers the best deals on tee times
    4. We have finalized our membership model.  Good news golfers, we are using a freemium model which means you only pay for what you want.

Look for more updates to come out weekly as we near the finish line.  :-)

      Wishes for the new year

Posted by Amber Goodenough on December 31, 2010

This past year at fourfour we have had an amazing journey.  We were so blessed in 2010, it turned out to be our biggest year ever in terms of the amount of work and profit!  Woot!  We moved twice, once in Lake Tahoe (we technically lived in Nevada for 2 months, so that makes 7 states I’ve lived in) and then to Santa Barbara.  Eric traveled to London, Paris and Chicago and Amber went to Redding, CA, San Francisco and Denver.

      There’s an app for that.

Posted by Amber Goodenough on December 28, 2010

This one’s for you dad.  My dad is in the process of starting up a new business with my mom in Redding, Ca.  Since they are of the boomer generation, they rely little on web apps to make their business run smarter.  Recently he asked me what online tools I use to run by business and decided it might make a good blog post.  So I thought I’d share some of our favorite apps and why we love them.

      Finances- Xero

Xero is an online accounting system designed for small businesses and their advisors.

In Xero we can create invoices and add payables, sync our bank accounts and look at reports of our finances.  This easy to use app also has a great way to share your financial information with your accountant.  And since its on the web, we can access it from anywhere! Xero is simple to use, not bulky like Quickbooks and you can manage both your business and personal accounts from one app.  Plans start at $19/month. (web app, no download)

What Does Your Website Need in 2011?

Posted by Amber Goodenough on December 20, 2010

A new year means that the website you built in 2007 is old and busted.  Sorry, I know its tough to hear.  Maybe you are attached to your site, you shared lots of good memories.  But listen up folks, the way we do business has changed so much in the last few years, heck, just in the last year alone, customers may be leaving your site because it looks dated .

Chances are, the last time you updated your site, it didn’t include links to social media or even a blog.  It’s time to face the hard truth that your site could use a makeover, maybe the way you do business too. So let’s think about it for a sec, what does the site of your dreams look like?  What websites do you love?  Just like when you go to the salon, you look at pictures to get ideas about what to do with your hair, start to do this with your site.  Does it have more photos, does it have news, does it have a contact form?

Here is a quick list of the questions you should ask yourself as you start to think about what your pretty new site should include.  Have fun with it, get wild!

      1. What is the primary aim of your website, how will it advance your business?
      2. What are the secondary goals of the site, what else do you need to communicate to your users?

Young love- the pros and cons of being a young entrepreneur

Posted by Amber Goodenough on December 01, 2010

Eric and I just celebrated 10 years being business owners.  We opened our first business when I was 21 and he was 23, Caffeine Dreams Coffee and Tea in Omaha, Nebraska.  We sold that in 2005 and opened fourfour media web consulting and have been running that ever since.  We have also opened, killed and buried a few businesses along the way…Trident Records (recording studio/record label), Confluence Creative (video production and web design).  Now that we are old and wise, we thought we would share some of the pros and cons for any other young folks thinking about getting into the mix.

      The Pros:

      1. Not afraid to fail-  When you are young, you haven’t failed enough times to be scared of falling on your face.  You just expect that everything will work out the way you envision it.  It is amazing to look at opening a business at that age and really have no fear.  Anything is possible, you get to be creative and really see if you have what it takes.  And if you do fail you are young enough not to let it destroy you, just get up and try again.

Teach a man to collect bees…

Posted by Amber Goodenough on November 08, 2010

So I know it’s early to start thinking about Christmas, but seeing as how it’s my FAVORITE holiday ever, there really isn’t such a thing as “too early”.  Now is the time of year where I start to pester my husband with questions like “What do you want this year? What should we buy your mom? Did you think about what you want for Christmas? My mom wants to know what to buy you?”  Questions like these get more intense as the weeks wear on.  And since he never gives me a straight answer unless I trap him in front of a computer, I’m sure you will be stunned when I share what happened last night.

He made a list of things he wants!! Holy Baby Jesus!

One of the things we decided to do this year is give the gift of livestock.  This year we will be donating to Heifer International, a charity that is helping to end hunger and poverty around the world.
